The Mission Cats Foundation is on a mission to tackle two pressing social issues: loneliness and isolation amongst senior citizens, economically-disadvantaged, disabled and homeless individuals, and the overcrowding of animal shelters due to the rising number of unwanted and homeless animals. We recognize that these problems are interrelated, and by providing no-cost pet care services and veterinary care, we aim to promote pet retention and reduce the need for euthanasia of companion animals. This will not only benefit our furry friends but also enhance the lives of senior citizens, economically-disadvantaged, disabled and homeless individuals by providing them with companionship and engagement.
Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans for the future. In 2023, we intend to expand our program to enable participating shelters to offer veterinary assistance and address food shortage and pet retention issues for this vulnerable population. Through these efforts, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are often overlooked by society and create a brighter future for both people and animals alike.
The Mission Cats Foundation endeavors to combat two pressing societal challenges – loneliness and isolation among senior citizens, economically-disadvantaged, disabled and homeless individuals, and the overcrowding of animal shelters due to the surging numbers of unwanted and homeless animals. We acknowledge the interconnectedness of these issues and, by providing free pet care services and veterinary care, we aspire to promote pet retention and diminish the need for euthanasia of companion animals. This would not only benefit our furry companions but also enhance the lives of senior citizens, economically-disadvantaged, disabled, and homeless individuals by providing them with companionship and engagement.
Moving forward, we have ambitious plans to expand our program in 2023, allowing participating shelters to offer veterinary assistance and tackle the scarcity of pet food and pet retention issues among this vulnerable population. Our ultimate objective is to make a substantial and long-lasting difference in the lives of those who are often overlooked by society, creating a brighter future for both people and animals alike.
At our organization, we prioritize establishing a robust network of donation sites and pet food providers, including soup kitchens and food pantries. However, we recognize that unforeseen circumstances may arise where our partners require additional supplies beyond what they are able to provide. In such cases, we proactively procure and deliver or ship the requested items to ensure that our partners can continue to fulfill their mission of serving vulnerable populations and their animal companions.
Our immediate veterinary care program is designed to provide urgent medical attention to animals suffering from acute illnesses or injuries. This service is critical in cases where timely intervention can mean the difference between life and death for the animal. However, due to the severity of these conditions and the need for extensive diagnostic testing, treatment, and sometimes surgical procedures, this program can be the most costly option for pet owners. Despite the potential financial burden, investing in immediate veterinary care can save your pet's life and prevent long-term health complications.
Our organization offers complimentary wellness checks for pets, with the aim of collaborating with veterinary hospitals to establish clinics that provide preventive treatment to eligible pet owners. Our goal is to make these clinics accessible at easily reachable locations across the Bay area. By providing these wellness checkups, we are making significant strides towards curbing the spread of diseases and illnesses among pets.
Mission Cats Foundation is a compassionate organization that delivers crucial assistance to the most vulnerable members of our society. Our mission is to provide emergency veterinary care, preventative wellness checks, and vital pet food and supplies to companion animals owned by seniors, disabled, economically-disadvantaged and homeless individuals. We are proud to support veterans participating in the HUD-VASH program who are in VA treatment programs and have a place to call home. Our commitment to improving the quality of life for both humans and their furry companions is at the forefront of everything we do.
